I have been here for a few years now. In fact, I think that I was among the first to join. In this past year, Nikonites has gotten far more serious and quite frankly, I don't feel as welcome as I once felt.
I admit that I am a contentious bastard and I probably have an abrasive sense of humor. But, in my defense I honestly believed that my lach of seriousness was a needed counterbalance to those unaccustomed to laughter.
Well, I will not be where I don't feel welcome.
Somewhere out in this world wide web is another Nikon centric site where buttheads like me will be welcomed.
I wish everyone here the best.
This is my last post as a Nikonite.

Oh, no, Pete. Please reconsider . . . we need more curmudgeons :cool: . . . and I don't know who made you feel unwelcome, but I think my opinion should count for something . . . and you are welcome as long as I am here.

I somewhat agree with you that some folks posting take things too seriously. I find that when I set them to "Ignore Posts", things get quite a bit better.;) Hopefully, I'm not on your "Ignore Posts" list :eek: as I have enjoyed interacting with you and reading your posts. You're a value added member of this site, and I'd hate to see you leave.

I've just read your blog about giving from last year, and want you to know that I'm inspired to do the same this year after reading it. If my doing so makes anyone's life a bit brighter, you get the credit for inspiring me to do this.

I would hate to see you go, but I understand where you are coming from. I too have been on the quiet front due to my work. It would be a shame to see you go but if you do it would be great if you kept in touch and posted everynow and then. No need to completely leave ;)

Pete, You have always been welcome with me. You were the first to crack a joke and welcome me. Yes, I haven't been on much as I want to be. But, I also don't take things too serious. I like to joke around and make smart remarks. If they don't like it!! Too bad! Stay and maybe the mods can make a forum to say what you want to say with no holds barred. We will call it. If you can't stand the heat, laughter and sarcasm don't come in!!

Hate to see you leave my friend, I don't think the grass is any greener elsewhere. Unfortunately human nature sways to the negative (see the news). It's unbalanced people like you who keep everything balanced:). Take a vacation and reconsider! We'll make sure no one does your work while you're out :)

It's a sad day for me to hear that someone or something said here made you feel unwelcome. You just lurk all you want, but please Pete, pretty please... Shake us down if you want to and play with us some more. :)

Take some time off if you must, but.....please come back. We honestly need you here.

I haven't seen any flamewars on this forum- seems fairly calm.

I've been on forums where one member expressed the desire for the OP to be assaulted for taking street photo's.

I am new to the site and am also known to have a rotten sense of humor until people get to know me. I would hate to see someone leave based on humor that is misunderstood. From what I see above, Pete, you have a lot more friends than you think so please stay. I would love to learn some photography skills and advice from you!

My sister told me many years ago people that don't know us think we are arrogant and rude,people that know us know we are,:D
