I have the opportunity to start investing in some lenses. I shoot with the D5100 and think it's a better investment right now in glass rather than a 2nd body. I already have the 18-55, 55-300, 50 1.8, all Nikon, and I have the Tamron 70-200 2.8. I think next on my list is the Tokina 14-24. I think they have me pretty well rounded but what are your thoughts?

Do you have a macro in that bunch? There are several macros in different lengths. I love my 40mm Macro. It gets almost as much use as my zooms do. I think if money wasn't an issue I would have gotten a little longer Macro though.

I don't think so...

If you are thinking of the Nikon 14-24mm 2.8, then definitely no question about that.
If money is not an issue & you think eventually you will move to full frame, best way to acquire the holy trinity of nikon lens: 14-24, 24-70, 70-200
You already have the 70-200 so you'll need to decide between the other two.
If you want wide angle, go for the 14-24, for general daily shooting, get the 24-70

If you are looking at a wide angle at a cost lesser than the Nikons, get the Tokina 11-16mm.
The new pro DX II comes with a focus motor & can be used on the D5100

You haven't mentioned what you shoot most or budget.

I think you should also decide relatively soon if you are ever going to move to FX or if DX for the foreseeable future.

I only invest in a second body when the next generation camera comes out. That way you have gotten a lot of use out of your current one when you make it your backup... With two to four year product cycles it's cheaper. JD

Tokina 12-24mm f4 is an ok lens. Just be aware that almost everybody goes to this phase in acquiring lenses. It is just a matter of time and which one to get first.

Once you have the wide angle covered, the primes comes in i.e. 35mm f1.8G DX, 85mm f1.8G, and so on.
