What's everyone's desert island lens?

1 and only 1 (that you own), and why.

My would probably be 45/2.8 Ai-P : CPU MF lens with decent enough FOV and aperture, profile that you can put in your back pocket and not even notice it, and if that "mechanical" CPU does happen to fail it becomes (hopefully) an Ai lens with an aperture ring. Hood is a 52mm filter that can always go with it and not add any bulk.
Very useful? Not at all. Effortless to just have with everywhere for the heck of it? Yes! Plus ideal street photography solution that makes any body a feather compared to most other lenses.

lol, at least pun it right 'top, dessert island.
Thanks for the correction, but did you not mean to say deserted island in your original post?:)

Anyhow, mine would be the 18-140. Not had any experience with high end lenses so that's all I can say.

I'd pick a Siggy 300-800.

Useful for spotting planes & ships.

Concentrate the sun's rays for starting fires.

Large enough to use as a weapon.

Heavy enough for an anchor.

Can be used as a magical idol to subdue the natives.

My choice would be the Nikkor AF 105mm micro lens. Very simply put, it would give me the most subjects to shoot. Even a grain a sand or anything else you can see! :D

I'd say my 35-70 f 2.8 AF D but it is too heavy to lug around while searching for coconuts. I'd go for my 50 1.4 AF D and zoom with my feet.....
