What is this?

I have a Nikon body cap or lens cap that has a white plastic dome shaped piece attached. It will not fit on camera body but I don't have any other body cap for the 7100. does anyone know what it goes to or how it works? I'll post a picture later today, but hopefully someone knows without having to take a very boring picture.

Sounds like a white balance cap. Forget the name.

no....it definitely has a lens cap look....but the white part is tight on the cap and it won't fit on the camera....can't remember where it came from. Maybe a picture...hold on. soon!

actually, looks like something my kids would make if left alone in a room with no windows, my camera bag, and a tube of glue

Take them apart -- bayonet cover and a body mount cover. That's how I store them on my bag when a lens is mounted

Thanks.....had me puzzled....it was hard to get apart, but I did it....must have gotten stuck together since everything is crammed in the top of my bag. Thanks guys!
