What is the most important criterion?

Isn't it amazing how threads like this always spark up passionate discussion? We all have our hot buttons for why we do what we do, and they're all different...just as our tastes in art are all different. And isn't that the purpose of art anyway, to evoke emotion? If it evoked the same emotion in everyone, this thread would have died 2 pages ago.

I think a photo has to move others, it has to make one think (happy or sad). A "good" photo is in the eyes of the beholder :).
