What cheap Protection filter for my Nikkor 70-300 VR

Walking in snow or rain, things tend to get wet, the photo is me and Borga The Husky, trying go hide out a snow blizzard.....

Well, can I just buy the cheapest UV filter I can find on eBay, they go for 10 bucks, or should I opt for some more expensive protection filter for my lenses??

With all that snow I'd suggest you invest in a good circular polarizing filter. You'll not only get a little protection from the elements for your lens(es) but you'll get better shots as well. All that wet, white stuff is causing a lot of reflected light, reflected light you're probably not even aware of but a CPL will reduce, or remove it and your shots will look "cleaner" (for lack of a better way to describe it) and have better contrast. They make blue skies prettier as well.

As for brands, don't cheap out here... Get a Hoya, get a B+W but suck it up and spend the money, Hoss; those $10 cheapies on eBay are a waste of money.

I was referring to Hoya uv (0) filters at ten bucks at eBay,
not them Kendon uv (mc) at 2 usd.

My local store sells b&w alas, 150 usd each for 67 mm I find a bit over the top...

I'm in agreement with the others here. Buy a decent filter. A cheap one may protect your lens, but also adversely effect the images you get. I really like B+W filters, but Hoya has some decent ones too. I have bought used filters from B&H & KEH. You may be able to get a nice filter cheap this way.

Many times the really cheap filters have a plastic frame, which is easier to cross-thread. I prefer the aluminum frame filters.

Just been to my fav eBay store. Bought a Hoya cir pl 67 mm And a Hoya 67 mm hmc UC (0) Payd 30 bucks in total incl postage.
Nb
As you know, that was UV(0) the old and far superior filter (compared to todays UV(c))

By meaning CHEAP, I think of lovely lenses as Micro Nikkor 105 ED - the new AF version --- Compared to Nikkor 80-400 which I also crave to own, but are so absolute expensive that I have to settle for the cheap 105 micro...

Look at the photos; These filters arrived last week from my fav eBay shop, 20 bucks for both incl postage, Now I have ordered two more, cannot go wrong with these ??
