What camera to buy d5300 or d7000

I've already read the review, I've read a few reviews and posts about this subject and that's what is making more unsure of what I want . Review will tell me the d5300 is better than the d7000 and most post I read from experience photographer will advise on the d7000 , well most say skip the d7000 and get the d7100 ! I went to a shop and had a feel on the two cameras and the d5300 just feels like my d3100 , the d7000 I do like the feel in my hand , all the controls , but then I look at the spec one part of me tells me to get the d5300 , seeing that there's nothing wrong with my d3100 I might just wait a bit longer and get the d7100.
The D5300 is the newer model so it has the superior technology, but fewer features because it's lower in the product line.

The D7000 is a higher-end model so it has more features but it's older so it doesn't have the same hi-tech "innards".

You could walk the middle of the road and get the D3300. Or you could get the best of both worlds with the D7100.

The d3300 is not even Un option for me the reason I haven't bought the d5300 is because it feels like my d3100 so the d3300 will have the same feel I really like the feel of the d7000 and the tech of the d5300 . But if I will have to chose between them I more inclined for the d7000. I 'll be going on holiday in July , will have to se if I can save enough money till then and see what I can afford then

The D7100 is a killer camera. It pretty much cured my NAS for a new camera after having a D3100, D5100, and the D7000. Buying the D7100 was the best thing I have done.

See this is what I don't want to do, go through the all range to find out in the end i should have just bought the right camera in the first place. I think I will wait for the d7100 .
(then when I can afford it , everyone is going to tell me I should get the d7200) lol

There IS a world of difference between how the 7' series feels in the hand vs the 5' series, I agree. My girlfriend wouldn't touch my D7100 when I shot with that body primarily, much less my current D750; and her D5300 feels so tiny in my hands I can't stand it. So yeah, ergonomics matter.

Just to add my 2p worth. One of the, oh how do I say it, limitations of the 3100 is it's dynamic range - blown skies and murky shadows always seemed a problem with the 3100 with *me*. Not saying it is for everyone, or it's the cameras fault, but that's how it was for me. The biggest 'wow' when I upgraded was the improvement in dynamic range. I think the 3100 is limited to 12bit lossy raw.

Also, in my opinion, get the best camera you can, rather than go through 2 or 3 on the way to the one you really want - works out cheaper in the long run :)

What camera did u upgrade to? The problem I have is I would like to buy the d7100 ( but not only I can't afford it I think it is too much money for a camera that I'm going to use as a hobby) like the feel of the d7000 in my hand but think for my money I will probably be better of with the d5300 . I'm not getting a camera till end of may so still have some time to make my mind up.

Yes, i know its a little bit over £400, but not that much for a brand spanking new UK spec (plugs, charger etc) with a 3 year warranty, and lightning fast delivery. This is cheaper than a second hand one, which is just nuts!! If you do the bank transfer method its even cheaper. They are a good legit company, used them a few times.

my budget for a new body was £350 could stretch to £400 . I could get the d5300 new from hdew cameras or eBay from £349 Or the d7000 for just under £400. used a bit cheaper... now with the d7100 in my head i dont know what to do anymore :( but I don't think I could spend more then £450 on a camera body... I will see how much money I can save till then... now that the new d7200 is out I might find a good deal on a used d7100

Can anyone tell me how can you find new cameras for sale in sites like panamoz (that was recommended here) and HDEW cameras same price you can find used cameras on ebay?? I know the cameras for sale in panamoz and HDEW are imported cameras what's the difference between uk and imported cameras ? U can get a D7100 for £550 at panamoz and a used on ebay isn't much cheaper

With the HDEW ect you are buying cameras that have not been imported by Nikon so your warranty is with the place you bought it,some of these sellers have a great reputation for looking after you if anything goes wrong, the other thing is if you buy secondhand via ebay you could buy a non nikon import without knowing it,the cameras are just the same which ever place imports them.

I've made my mind up and decided to save a bit more money and get the D7100 , so have been looking on ebay for used cameras , and comparing with panamoz that was recommended here and HDEW that was recommended by a friend . And the price of a used camera is so close to new I was worried there was any problem with imported cameras ... panamoz offers 3 years warranty and the review are very good . I'mI'm just waiting to see if the price drops a bit more seeing that the new d7200 is out now and I might just get it at panamoz

It makes sense if you want the back up from Nikon uk,if your not bothered then buy what they call a gray import and rely on the dealer to sort any problems out.

Nothing, the grey market cameras are made in the same place the cameras for the Nikon British/European market are made. My D810 is totally indistinguishable from one bought from a British high street retailer. UK plugs etc, etc
