It took me a while, but I just finished reading Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged.

Next up is Scott Kelby's Light it, Shoot It, Retouch It.

Loved that book. Definitely on my Top Ten List, possibly my Top Five.

Have you read Rand's Anthem? If not, I highly recommend it. My 6th grade class was assigned that book and reading it had a profound effect on me. I've encouraged each of my children to read it, as I can't see it ever being assigned to a primary or secondary level student in today's schools.

Completely off photography but I am currently about to start Mark Webber's Autobiography ...

Photography wise it would be N-Photo

I have... As well as "The Fountainhead"; which is neck and neck with 'Shrugged. Ask me which of the last two I like better and I'm not sure I could give you an answer. "Anthem" I remember reading in... I want to say high-school but it could have been later.

Completely agree with your assessment regarding, "Anthem"; it's an excellent and thought-provoking read. Schools aren't going to touch a novel like that these days!

Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates, by Brian Kilmeade.

A current best seller, one that once started, you cannot put it down. It was a 3 AM night for me last night.

A factual history, similar problem as now, "All nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave. Christian sailors were fair game." Unless tribute was paid of course. France and UK and others, Scandinavia etc, were paying tribute so Mediterranean commerce could pass, but it was more than the young US could afford in 1800. Thankfully, a little armed might goes a long way.

Sect Appeal. The Downliners Sect. Autobiography by Terry Clemson.
I just received my signed copy from my friend Terry. Recorded a few tunes with him.
The Downliners Sect (R & B band) only achieved cult status here in the States, but I'm sure a few of you Brits certainly know of them.

Finished it some time ago, but Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. A true story of a U.S. Olympian, his near-death experience as a downed WW-II flyer and POW in the Pacific and his forgiveness later in life to the Japanese who horribly abused him. Prior to that, Shinano! by Enright and Ryan, a firsthand account of the tracking and sinking of a large Japanese aircraft carrier by a U.S. submarine toward the end of the war.

I am fascinated by WW-II history. I wish I had more time to read!

i read Unbroken a while ago, and like the other Hillenbrand book I've read, Seabiscuit, I couldn't put it down.

I might want to check that out since I collect pewter items.

It is now 50+ years old, but still pretty much the definitive text. Pewter collecting, like other old-time hobbies, has fallen out of fashion; on the plus side, you can now buy this title for $5 instead of $50 or more. I am slowly filling in the pewtersmiths for my Silversmith project.

Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. A great factual account of the rowers from the United States who competed in the '36 Olympics in Berlin. This book is written very well, and I highly recomend it whether you are interested in sports or not.

Fistful of Collars by Spencer Quinn. Fun private investigator series of books written from the point of view of his loyal comapnion, Chet, who happens to be a dog.

It is one of the best books I've read in a long time. After getting started, I just couldn't put it down.

As of now, I'm reading Ian Fleming's Commandos by Nicholas Rankin. It's the story of the 30 Assault Unit in World War II, and attributes James Bond creator Ian Fleming with starting the unit.
