Any word on the D500? I would be very sad if I had to send my favorite toy in for repair/replacement. Hang tough!

Funny you should ask -- I just got an email from Square Trade that it will have to go to Nikon for repair, which is what I told them to begin with. On the down side, they can not say how long it will take; on the plus, they gave me $50 credit at B&H.

I can only hope that they will not, based on Nikon's estimate, through good money after bad once again.

Time will tell and in the mean time, I will try not to dwell on how much better my pictures might have been and have a beer instead.

What exactly didn't they fix right the first time?

It's not so much what they missed, but that they should not have bothered trying to fix it at all. Per my conversation with Nikon, previous to sending it back to Square Trade again, it was their opinion that the current issues were further manifestations of the previous damage, ie trigger/burst failure, inability to lock focus, firing out of focus, stutter lash, etc. I never felt the camera was 'right' but could not provide a concrete repeatable issue until this mess suddenly occurred.

It was getting hot quick and I decided, having shot a lot of pictures with meager results, to call it quits early. As I came around the corner heading to the main gate, I found the young red tail sitting on a low lamp pole. From the bits on the ground, he seemed to have just finished some breakfast and was trying to figure out what to do next.
