Feeling grumpy today for some reason, so shot some of the patio hummers, which always chase the blues

The day started off with a steady drizzle of rain and I was all set to make do shooting some bugs in the yard, when I got a text from @Roy1961. He was at the Arb and had found a pair of green heron chicks. When I got there, I didn't see Roy, but found the kids in a big clump of sedge in the back pond. They were nearing full fletch, so had been well hidden for some time. Unfortunately, the only shooting spot was on the far side of the water and they were hunkered down in the reeds near the water's edge.

I was sitting here, posting nonsense, and heard a really lout dove coo outside the window. I grabbed my camera and took a look. I found a Eurasian collared dove pecking, but it spooked, so only got some shots up on the phone line. We have been getting reports of a developing colony here.

Just finished ordering a Tam 150-600 G2; when it arrives on Monday, my G1 will go off to Tamron for a complete overhaul. Whem it gets back, I will put it up on the forum for a very reasonable price.

I'll be interested to see how you like the G2. I have a love/hate relationship with my Tam 150-600 G1. The last time I used it it froze up three times in one shoot. I also got some great low light shots of owls thanks to the image stabilization. It just isn't as sharp at 600 mm as I would like, but it produces some very sharp results round 500mm and shorter.

Anyway, good luck with the new lens, and with the sale of the old one. :)
