Was out in the front yard hoping to get a few hummers on my big duranta, which is getting its yearly haircut tomorrow. No hummers were about, but as I stood there, the magnolia across the street exploded with birds flying off in all directions. That is a pretty good sign that somebody is on the prowl. I went across and found a young Cooper's starting dinner prep.

19 March

I took a chance on the heavy morning fog and went down to the Santa Ana river. It was a solid curtain at home, but quickly burning off there, so got an hour of shooting in.

Avocets have made it in

This guy popped up right in front of the lens as I was taking getting focus on a robin; startled the hell out of me.

The tree swallows have come in in great numbers this year, so the bluebirds are going to have to fight for box space

I found a 5k walk/run around the lake had started up with a few hundred noisy kids, so I decided to quit early and started to the car. As I crossed the small feeder creek, I spotted a great blue, so stopped for a few shots and got lucky
