Those were excellent posts, which all goes to show " There is life without Glyphosate..." There are many less fortunate who live in arable lands, where insects, let alone bees and birds are a thing of the past. Clearly when it comes to capturing the birds of the air the desert areas are very fertile grounds indeed.

Indeed, even if the 'desert' in question is a 1/4 of an acre smack in the middle of a city of 135,000 folks.

Point taken but 1/4 of an acre in Tuscon, Phoenix or Albaqueque (I'm guessing), Austin or San Antonio will always beat 1/4 in the Wheat regions of Nebraska...

Fullerton, in north Orange County, California. And those 1/4 acres of Nebraska have a much higher diversity of birds than we do here in Southern California.

You will know, I only got my "insights" from a film on the wheat and corn belt prairies where sprays are used. I lived in Equatorial regions for many years where bird life was prolific and varied. In E. Africa you might see seven or more colours of starling walk across your lawn for instance, so your 1/4 acre is a marvel and you do it justice.

I'd have to try some to take a clunkier picture, but three on a feeder is rare enough to risk the wrath of the forum's Committee for the Preservation of Visual Nobility

Had to shoot these hand-held, trying to swing in time to the branch bouncing around in the breeze
