Off to Carbon Canyon, where I don't go too often. It was a bad choice; the Santa Ana winds came up full force just as I arrived and it was well on its way to 90. I heard lots of birds and managed to see 6, but only a few posed long enough for a picture.
At least one was the first western tanager of the year
Hoping it's the lull before the storm. The heat and winds have been a bother -- the birds all hide out in the bushes and won't come out to play. I'll see what the Arb has to offer today.
Off to the Arb this morning. I got there a little later than normal and met another shooter on the way out. He looked a little glum and commented that there didn't seem to be too many birds around, so he only got a handful of shots. Might have been a timing thing or he had a more discriminating eye than mine, but I left an hour and a half later with just north of 800 images.
And yes, I'm going to post every single one of them.
