Sale's over. We didn't do as well as hoped, but at least the rain stopped before the gates opened.

This guy looked glad the sky was clearing, too.

The tropical area in front of the Hort lab and classroom, which is a c 1940 Army barracks building given to the school just after WWII -- we are somewhat low on the campus improvement plan. The very large tree is a Brazilian Tipu, planted in 1962. It is a favorite resting spot for our hawks and a prime breakfast hangout for all the small bug eaters. So far there are three hummers nesting in the lower branches. The small grayish tree just behind the chairs is a lemon guava, where the squirrels deny us any fruit and we are hoping a hermit thrush is starting a nest. The hawk's nest is in one of the big eucs in the background

Thanks Danno. As the last piece of "undeveloped" property on campus, we fight a constant battle to preserve our 50 year old collection of plants and memories. The latest idea was to cut everything down, lay black top, and use it to park the campus trucks and vans, while we would be moved across the street to a bare hillside plot a third the size. A concerted email flood from our community friends and alumni has stalled that. . . for now.

Okay, it was a little windy, but the light was okay and I haven't had a moment to shoot the kids in a week, so here goes
