Most of the waxwing have flown off in search of more berries, but I found a pair down in the creek bathing with a flock of goldfinches and yellow rumps

Well, DUH. I have been struggling of late with shooting crisp images even using my tripod. I thought I was getting sloppy with my technique, jerking the shutter, or the VR was going wonky on the Tam.

Just now, checking something else, I looked at the picture control setting and found it was set to 0. I have not got a clue how that happened or why, but I know I set it at 7 right from the beginning. I hope this cures things, cause my keeper rate (which was never great) is really in the crapper.

With Flash obliging, I thought I'd see what I could pull out shooting in near dark on the patio. Grainy, which is no surprise, but more detail than I expected

No, this is the new body that Best Buy gave me when they couldn't fix my old 5200. I've never done a 2 button reset, either. The ghost in the machine, I guess.

Thanks,
It is a setting I have never really messed with. Just wanted to clarify for my own understanding.
