Spotted a swallow working on a nest in an abandoned drain pipe, but I wasn't willing to wade out into the lake for a better angle

The terns were busy over the lake again, so I tried some BIF -- took a lot of pictures and ended up with little to show for it

Bright sunny day for a change, so most of the birds were hiding. Figures.

We had a scare at the department yesterday when the ever adept city tree trimmers decided it was time to butcher the big euc where the hawks are nesting. Luckily, their cherry picker was just a bit too short to reach the upper limbs, so the nest didn't end up in the shredder.
