He reminds me of the recipe for chicken soup that I first learned in the Army; first, steal a chicken

06 September

Just on noon and I have been on the phone for more than 5 hours dealing with lens people, camera people, tripod people, credit card people, bank people, and a nice lady in New Jersey, who I dialed by mistake.

Glad a wave of cloudless sulfurs showed up to cheer me a bit

Well, this should be interesting. I sent back my second D5300 via my Geek Squad plan. The shutter was feeling gritty, shooting burst fast and slow and in between. In addition, I set up a a sharp black and white target with fixed lighting and shot using my 50mm on the 2nd 5300 on a tripod. It shot sharp at 1/800, f6.3, 100 ISO. I switched to the iffy 5300 with identical settings and it shot the same image at 200 ISO with a soft, overexposed image. I explained and demonstrated all this when taking in the camera.

So today, I get an email (2:48 PM) that the body was being assessed for repair.

I get a second email (3:22 PM) that the body had been fully repaired and sent back out to the store for pickup.

Beat that NIKON.

I called the Geeks to get details and, after a 20 minute wait, got hold of a human. After he finally worked his way through the records, he told me the repair was free. I told him I knew it was free, that was why I bought the plan, but wanted to know what they did in 34 minutes. He told me they replaced stuff. What stuff, I asked. He said it didn't say, they just did stuff. I gave up.

Should be interesting to see what I get back.

Oh and my Vanguard PH32 pan head no longer tightens on swivel and is leaking fluid at the dial. Send it back, they say, we'll see.

I am very tempted to go back to watercolours.
