the magnolia seeds have ripened up quickly in our hot humid weather and the parrots are wasting no time thinning out the crop

Here we go again. Went out as usual to see what was flying about at the lake. I took a quick toss shot to check setting and got this beauty. Press the shutter button, hear loud metallic click and get an ERR message with the shutter stuck open. Hit the button again and the shutter closes and the ERR goes away. Happened every time I tried. Did a reset, new battery, new card, different lens, etc. No joy. Off it goes to Square Trade for the fourth time. They will do nothing, of course, but send it to Nikon where it will sit for another month.

No, just Square Trade making a bad decision a year ago, when I sent it in after getting knock down by an insane mountain biker. It should have been totaled then, but they had Nikon fix it anyway. It has been back in 3 more times for continuing issues and this last finally woke them up to the fact they were pouring money down a deep hole. A check for the full cost is on its way and a new body shipped today from B&H. And you can bet I kicked in for the full protection plan again!

wev, what is your opinion of the Square Trade warranty? I just purchased a Godox flash with a trigger and have 26 more days to add a Square Trade warranty. From what I've heard, if there are any issues with the flash, I'd have to send it to China (if I don't get a Square Trade warranty). Do you know if Square Trade repairs things themselves? I am surprised to hear your D500 went back to Nikon. Here I was under the impression these aftermarket warranty companies used no-name repair centers.
