Well, the first thing to remember is that you only see the pics I post -- bucket loads go into the trash every day. I've been shooting with a monopod lately, waiting for my new tripod to arrive. I don't do much hand-held, as my right hand is a bit wonky and doesn't hold up long. I'm in SoCal and have pretty good light most days, but am quite willing to push the iso hard to stay at least at 1/200, f9.

That and I never start without a few large doses of Dr. Augustus Wicket's Golden California Good Luck Powder (Pat. Pending)

I have the weak skakey hand syndrome too. I'm hoping with time it will improve as I get used to the weight again (have not done much photog the last 2 yrs). I have tried a monopod (no head, straight to the mount thread) but not keen on the restriction of a pole hanging below. Maybe If I bought a ball head for it, I would like it better. I have to push the ISO too... most of my bird shots are in shade. Ideally I'd love to get some shots out in the sun... just gotta get out and do it!! Keep on keeping on :D

Some use a gimbal head on monopods
