A surprising visitor at the lake, a Forster tern flying in rapid circles -- got a lucky shot

Well, the second day is over and it was not without its bird excitement. All day the mother hawk was flying back and forth from tree to tree, squawking loudly. We thought she was having mockingbird issues again, but they weren't to be seen.

As I was leaving, I spotted her in the silk floss tree, still vocalizing and scanning all around nervously

I looked around and spotted the source of her agitation -- another larger red shoulder not far from her nest

The interloper dove down, knocked her from her perch and they plunged down into the tree, landing further down with a loud THUMP
