Hatching usually takes 14 to 18 days after the second egg is laid. Cold weather can add another 4 or 5 days.

Yep -- got my wellies, earthquake kit, and extra Nikon batteries in the closet by the front door.

Make sue you have good oars and extra bottles of water and trail mix stored in the kayak too, You just never know. Oh and pack a fifth of Knob Creek to use in case of snakebite and other possible calamities.

Didn't have much time for shooting, but got a few minutes in. I was lucky enough to get a little aerial combat. A big red tail was circling above our red shoulder nest and mom decided she had had enough. I missed the money shot -- lost focus for a split second
