This turtle was digging an egg cache right in the middle of a path near the back pond.

Were the birds all waiting in the trees for her to finish?

Didn't see any birds, but there were a couple of squirrels lounging in a nearby palm keeping an eye on her. Don't know what her motivation was, but she would be hard pressed to pick a worse spot for birthing her babies.

A female blackbird landed right in front of me and did a little dance, then poofed up its bloomers

Satisfied I had been put in my place, she got busy on breakfast

Another one with a nest down in the reeds arrived with a fat bug

On the top of the tree, waiting for the sun

Down by the creek, waiting for bugs

Somewhere in between, waiting for the picnickers to leave
