i like this shot. I would try to duplicate it here if i could get the golden light about noon. :)
Ron, That would be a great shot to have the light on the stonehenge at different times of day. I only found this structure last night and it was getting late. I was on my way to my grandchildren's piano recitals and it was on the way there. So I watched their recitals and was AMAZED by their talent, then gave them hugs, kisses, and lots of praise. Instead of heading home, I went back to see what I could do with the stones. It was about 8:00 pm by then, so the shadows were low. I will have to find time to get back there and get shots at different times of the day. This could certainly be a fun project. The only problem is that I put 200 miles on the Mustang getting there and back :(

I see hills like this and I just want to climb on up to the top :D Looks like such a great spot

Vixen, I know those mountains and hills call to me too. I find that time goes by too fast when I am hiking and taking shots of the landscape. I just wish that I had more time to find those wonderful places. I am a teacher so I am off in the summer, that is when I get the most time to hike. I wish I were retired so that I could get out and hike all year round. I love finding new landscapes to shoot. Ansel Adams liked this part of the world for photography too.

I thought food coloring was involved, but I never would have guessed milk. Thanks for sharing your "secret".

Oh, I would go hiking with you also, but most of my hiking is on flat terrain, so you'd have to walk a tad slower for me.
Marilynne, Yep, the milk gives a wonderful effect. I think that the bubbles were fun looking like little eyes. I have one shot that wasn't spectacular, but you could really see the many little "eyes" in the colors. I will try to post it so that you can see how fun it was.

I would love to take you hiking Marilynne, I tend to go slower anyway because I like to look at EVERYTHING as I go. The altitude here can be a problem for people who aren't used to it ~5000 feet above sea level. So we will hike slow and have a wonderful time taking photo's. We may even find a fossil or two. I have found several fossils in my hikes and travels. If you ever get to travel up this way let me know and we will have a great time.

Sounds great! I think I live about one foot, maybe two feet above sea level. You won't have to look far to find a fossil if my husband joins us.

LOL that's great, I usually take my fossil hubby with me too!! LOL
I liked the eye photo better after I posted it, for se reason it looks better online:)
NOPE, I poured the milk down the sink, but not before blowing bubbles in it. My grandies liked that part the best:)

I love to hike too but as you say I stop everywhere taking photos of things I see and it drives my family crazy LOL I'm good with elevation I worked many years at ski hill over 5000ft. We live at just over 2000ft but last Fall while in Jasper we hiked at 7000ft and then the Glacier hike at 10,000ft and that was tough going up hill puff puff puff :) I LOVE mountains and water and I'm very easily thrilled with how beautiful our world is. In PEI I adored the red sand and ground it was just beautiful especially in great light so I imagine your red rocks must be fabulous to see :)
