Day 174/365 Fold in the Mountain, This is an example of how fantastic geology can be. The strata has been laid down horizontally, then the plates shifted and folded the strata in this mountain like a "?". Pretty cool huh?

Day 174/365 Yellow Bird on a Blue Fence. This little bird was really difficult to catch, I didn't think that I got a shot of him until I got home and found this. I really like the colors of the yellow bird and the blue fence with the green of the trees in the background.

Day 174/365 There is still a little snow in the mountains even when the temperature was 90 degrees Fahrenheit today. Now if you remember we had 30 to 40 degree temperatures just last Monday. Weird!!!! I like the way this mountain looks though.

yes I would like to go for a hike with you :) I would spend forever at the Falls

Snaphappy, It has been really nice to go for these hikes. Bridal Veil Falls is really nice isn't it? In the winter it is frozen and looks really interesting. I am glad that I have an excuse to see these beautiful places that are within driving distance for me. Ok, You will have to take a vacation and come to see me, I will show you some really beautiful places that you wouldn't believe are part of this world. The shots that I took today are all close to Sundance Resort. I'll have to get some shots from Sundance soon. You would not believe how pretty the place looks.

Nope, I will gladly tell you the secret. I poured some milk into a bowl, I wasn't careful so that gave me those little bubbles. Next, I dropped food colors, (red, yellow, and blue) into the milk. I kept the food colors separate. Then... I dropped small drops of soap into the milk. (I used my dish soap for that shot, but on Sunday I used soap bubbles for my grandies, both worked well). It is fun because the soap makes the milk move, and swirl to mix the colors. So, those little eyes are just the little bubbles in the milk with the soap swirling the colors underneath. Just a little science experiment. I hope that you try it because it's fun. :)

I thought food coloring was involved, but I never would have guessed milk. Thanks for sharing your "secret".

Oh, I would go hiking with you also, but most of my hiking is on flat terrain, so you'd have to walk a tad slower for me.

I would love to take you hiking Marilynne, I tend to go slower anyway because I like to look at EVERYTHING as I go. The altitude here can be a problem for people who aren't used to it ~5000 feet above sea level. So we will hike slow and have a wonderful time taking photo's. We may even find a fossil or two. I have found several fossils in my hikes and travels. If you ever get to travel up this way let me know and we will have a great time.
