Bird Houses.jpg
While driving around in the rain trying to find something for the shot of the day I saw this house with LOTS of bird houses. I thought that it would be interesting to take some shots of them. So I went to the door and explained who I was and that I would like to take some pictures of her bird houses. She was very kind and said, "Yes." I liked taking photos of the bird houses, but it was very difficult light because it was raining.

Georgia O'Keefe Orchid.jpg

Day 61 March 2, 2014
One of my favorite artists is Georgia O'Keefe. This shot made me think of her beautiful flower extreme closeups.

Well some of us may have overlooked an orchid while looking for a rose, but you certainly did not. Very nice. Georgia would have loved it. She fooled around with a photographer you know.

Oh, I had forgotten that about Georgia. Thanks so much for the compliment on my orchid shots.

Your welcome. I think that might have helped her become a better painter. I was reading recently where her lover was diametrically opposed to the Ansel Adams school of thought and more in tune with photos that looked more like paintings. I think that debate still goes on today. Just a little food for thought on a snowy night here.

Ron, I agree that seeing life through a lens and then interpreting it on canvas can make for better art. Ansel Adams is another of my favorite artists. I read once that Georgia liked the Southwestern photos, were what drew her to New Mexico. That was when she changed from flowers to skulls.

I lived in the neighborhood of where she lived when I was a teenager, but did not have a clue as to who she was, more the pity. her work is timeless and the Southwest in where she lived will inspire artist forever.. She was ,I think, where she was meant to be. #551 is my favorite
