Each time you offload the SD card and put it back in the camera you want to reformat it. Do the reformatting in the camera. Over time the cards "instructions" get corrupted by not cleansing the card with a reformat. That is the simplest way to explain it.

Thanks for the explanation MM.

You're welcome. I see it as extra brownie points for when you hate me after you learn where I am going on a shoot. Tell you tomorrow, but I will say if you want to take interesting photographs then you need to stand in front of interesting things - and I will!

Hark,
Moab Man, Moab Lady and I work together. He was able to personally teach me how to reformat my SD cards. The link that Marilynne left me has some great information on how to handle our SD cards. Here is that link: why / when reformat SD card? - Photo.net Digital Darkroom Forum

Thanks kindly for taking the time to explain this, Moab Man! ;) I do tend to frequently reformat my cards in camera even if there are only a few images on them but didn't realize it was highly recommended! I also didn't realize that just transferring the files without reformatting could alter the card in any way as was stated in Marilynne's link.

Thanks Wendy, Moab Man, and Marilynne for all the info! :D

Marilynne, there is some excellent information on that link , thanks so much for sharing. Did you get any other great stuff at the photography class?

It was a workshop Wendy. 15 photographers got the wetlands all to ourselves for 2.5 hours. Afterwards we went to a conference room for photo critique - straight out of the camera. Second year I've attended. We got a three sheets of tips and tricks, that was one of the items.

That sounds like something that we should have here. Moab Man and Moab Lady, are you listening? Just working with others that have the same passion for photography can really improve the knowledge.
Ok, Marilynne, expect a visitor next year at this time when they have the classes. :)
