Greetings all! just a quick hello from a new guy.
Name is Dave, I live in the East Village in Manhattan but hail from upstate NY (Capital District).
Car and bike lover/mechanic/rider, mostly ones that come out of Europe, was big into the VW/Audi scene for a while had a show car that won a few trophies, and rode a Ducati 748 for a few years.
Had to give it all up when work prompted the move to NYC which in turn motivated/precipitated getting back into photography.
Shot film as a kid with an old school Nikon SLR, I'd put my overall skill at or below noob, I know my basics (search before you post :p) but that's about it.
Picked up a barely used D5100 from a buddy, along with the standard issue 18-55 Nikkor and a few other bits of kit, and still have my old lenses, a 50mm f/1.8, a 200mm f/4, and a 2x teleconverter.
Work in finance, but so does everyone down here and its boring so that's that.

HIIIIIIII

Always down to meet new people talk about cameras/cars/bikes, drink coffee or beer so if you're in NYC shoot me a PM.

-Dave

Hi Dave. Welcome to the forum. You have cool toys and it looks like you are having a great time. Feel free to post your pictures or ask questions.

Just sit back, relax, update your profile a bit and get to know the internet residents.

I'm Glenn and I currently live in Japan.

welcome, yes, great combos,, I enjoy motorcycles (have an original interceptor, and a Harely XR1200), and a little red sports car.

Maybe camera folks are also often Toy's collectors?

I like throwing a camera and couple of primes in a side bag, strap a tripod to the back rack and combine the activity.

NYC,,, photographers paradise.

So, enjoy the 5100,

Thanks all for the warm welcome!
This seems like genuinely nice forum compared to a lot of what I'm accustomed to in the car/bike world.
Looking forward to sharing and learning with a good group!
