This weeks contest is not going well for me.
I asked my wife to help me come up with a shot using our three mongrels. I showed her these examples and now she wants a puppy. I told her "Over My Dead Body"... Just now I caught her in the kitchen sharpening the knives.

Turn this into an opportunity, a new puppy should be worth at least $1000 in photo gear

Not a bad shot, Russ. And nice that you're using a D100! Very cool. :) The photo looks just a little washed out, IMHO, but maybe that's because of the lighting or maybe the flash? What lens did you use? Oh wait.....I see it was an 18-55mm. Good choice.

This is Pending... We rescued him from the street during the start of a typhoon in Japan, and called him "Pending we find your owners." Never name an animal you can't keep, right?

He was very skittish and scared for awhile, and after two months without finding his owner, Pending ran out the front door when my wife was bringing in groceries. A week later my wife let our other dog in to the back yard and surprise! How he got back there I will never understand.

And now he only responds to Pending.

thanks Jack - I used the indoor flash as since the inside light was not of good source. Could not resist Mr. Floyd's big eyes, they were focused in right where I needed them to be focused.

Have had my D100 now for just over 15 months. Bought it used for $200 (along with some accessories). Some have convinced me to upgrade in camera body, but not quite convinced to do so. Have purchased additional camera equipment to go along with the D100 e.g. lenses and an external flash.

Beautiful Dog, but even more beautiful is the story that goes with it. Literally the silver lining inside that typhoon's dark cloud

Great photo......even greater story! Ummm....just as an aside comment here, hotrocks; on the bottom of the photograph is your copyright mark. Should it read truephotograph.com....or is what you have there intentional? I'm a spelling freak. I notice these things. :)

Funny thing is I saw it was wrong but forgot to fix it when I came back to save it! I'll have to fix it after work. Thanks

I have three dogs that are terrified of cameras. Evidently, the Flash reminds them of lightning which reminds them of Thunder. They run hide every time I get out the camera.
I had to rely of my old tried and true pet. One I've had for many many years. He is even a hero. He defended me from a mugger by jumping out of my pocket and hitting the mugger right between the eyes. Now how can the judges NOT like a pet like my Pet Rock.

Here is a picture of our Pet Pink and Grey Galah.
He's 4 1/2 years old. We found him when we was a few weeks old.
He's blind on one eye and had a broken toe.
We believe the mother kicked it out the nest due to he was blind.
He was so small that he fit in the palm of my hand,

Let me guess. You named him "Lucky"!

Great looking bird!

Not sure why but out pet bird "Chippy" is a lot brighter pink compared to others.
We have a bird lead and we take him for walks often. :)
