I've been trying to get a pic of a dragon for a while now. They are everywhere, and I can't get a good pic of one. My dog usually scares them off before I see them, or they see me and run. You know birds and animals see that BIG lens and run a mile. I don't know why :D

i have heard it is "the photographer" not the equipment. :) keep up your good work, only 70 days left of this madness.

70 days too long :D I may not take another photo as long as I live after this 365.

MISSING IMAGE!!!!!

Yeah......right!! :D

Man don't I feel the same way. The only difference for me is I may just finish a few hours ahead of the rest of you (if I last that is) :)

Flying foxes or fruit bats. I'm so glad the colony has returned to their roost not too far from where I live. The local residents may not be. Not everyone likes the noise they make, but I am happy. I expect to go back and take some more shots of them before they leave again.

Really nice. Perhaps make the top center dark ridge a little less shadowed, and a bit more pop from the green stem?

I would have liked the stem a little better exposed too Jake but once again I had difficulty getting the lighting just right :( Thanks for the feedback tho. At least I know that my thoughts are along the same lines. It is quite hot today here, and to be honest I couldn't be bothered to do it all again. It's going to be hotter tomorrow :( and then hotter again the next day :( I guess summer has arrived and I just have to man up :D (I hate the heat)

@Vixen that is a really clever and cool (well hot actually) photo. How did you do it?

I held a chilli by the stalk in a clamp (one made for an iPhone, but I bought to use to hold things for photos) in front of a black background, and then lit some incense below the chilli to get the smoke curling round the chilli. Easier said than done as every movement causes the smoke to swirl all over the place and if perfectly still it is just a boring stream of smoke. I then had to remove the clamp and unwanted stream of smoke below the chilli in PS.

I needed a little more light. I had 2 flashes of to the side to highlight the smoke but could have used a 3rd to light the top of the chilli a bit more.
