My objectives
To run the Camera D7100 on portable normal Power bank instead of the usual Nikon battery.
As I leave in poor country and the original battery is expensive and the Chinese battery has really bad quality
**My Story
I bought from Aliexpress the below item as description it converts 5v/2A to 8.4v/2-4A which should make the camera works. The link
I connected converter to DC adapter 5v/2A ,camera worked fine had no problem, until I tried to take a picture in the auto mode with flash ,the camera stopped responding and I had to remove and insert the dummy batter again.
I tried the converter with power bank which I knew in the hard way that it’s 5V/1.5A and results for the camera turned on but if I tried to take picture or open the live view, the camera turned off and give me error and I have to reset it to work normally again.
my conclusion
the convertor works fin if I am able to connected it to power source 5v/2A or higher.
And that’s where is your turn guys to help me.
Is it safe to use the convertor. Please find the blow pic
The converter contains of
Step down voltage : KSZ-3R33S (they use it in a reverse way ?!)
Capacitor FP5K/3YCK/101/16
If really safe shall I go with normal power bank with output 5V/2.4 or the new power bank with USB type-c 5v/3A?
If the convertor is not save for my camera, can I add fuse or another circuit to protect the camera?
All other alternatives are more expensive and it’s hard for me to go for it.
