Viewfinder Blacks Out - Shutter Will Not Release

Hi,

So go for a stroll to the park today Z7 in hand and go to take a pic and the viewfinder flashes completely black then comes on again then flashes black again. Does this for as long as I hold the shutter button and will not take a photo.

Was working perfectly last use and now this?

Took lens off and re-attached (28-400) a few times. Took the battery pack off and waited a couple of minutes. No difference.

Googled and forum searched to no avail. Anyone run into this before?

Thanks.

So I did a settings reset and all is well now. I'm presuming it didn't like something I set.

Well Dear Nikon, I also presume the flashing the viewfinder black every second is to tell me that but Mr. no common sense software writers, it would be extremely nice if the camera knows the setting I made won't work then it should tell me which setting it doesn't like so I have a clue what's going on. Of course you wouldn't think of that and I bet I can't find that info in the manual either, the internet didn't know the answer so it certainly is not common knowledge among Nikon owners that's for sure.

Honestly if the camera knows enough to flash the screen black then it could tell me what it does not like, how hard is it Nikon?
