ViewFinder and Video

Dear All,

I have bought a Nikon D5100 for phtos and video out in the forest etc. My problem is that sometimes, due to weather condition, I can not clearly see the LCD when recording video.
And my question is as follows:
Is there any firmware update to make my d5100 capable of recording video while viewing from the viewfinder? If not, it there a relatively cheap sollution to this, maybe something like a z finder or something like this? Or an external monitor?

Please bare in mind that I do not want to record at lower fps than 30.

Excuse me if I dont explain correctly but I am a new to the dslr world. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Giannis.

External monitors with recording capability using HDMI feed may end up being more expensive than your camera.

Have you looked at the new D5300 specs on video?

mikew has answered. I can add that I tried such device couple of days ago (it was mounted on some Canon DSLR), and I was amazed with how good it works.

I woulk like to thank you for taking the time to reply back to me. I think I will go for the solution that mikew suggested as there are no money for a new camera purchase right now.

Hi giannisapi. I bought a D5300 as well and I'll need a LCD viewfinder too. But I've made my search and I sincerely do not advice you to buy what Mikew said. Just because I think those viewfinders need to be glued to the LCD, and then you can't close the LCD, it will always have to be reversed. (I Think, correct me if I'm wrong).
