View NX2 (transfers)

When reading from a memory card I can select say img14-img76 out of 200 images, click convert (or whatever the button is called) and save those selected images on the computer in a different file format (e.g. Jpeg).

My question is, how do I transfer just the RAW (.NEF) files in the same way without having to check the box for every file I want to transfer? I want to keep my RAWs but I don't want the ball ache of checking 10s or 100s of boxes every time!

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Do you just want to copy the contents of the card, or a day's worth of images? The specifics of how to do this will depend on what operating system your computer uses. In general, If you have a card reader, put your card in it, browse the folder on the card that contains the images. Select the ones you want, and just copy them over to whatever directory (folder) you want to put them on your computer. Hope that helps.

Hi piperbarb.

I want to transfer a days worth for example, but I like the feature that view nx has where you can rename the files as they are being transferred.

It's possible to do what I'm trying to do when converting from .NEF to, for example, .jpg but I can't figure out how to do it keeping them as .NEF!!

Thanks again

I am not sure what you are trying to do. I use ViewNX2 to transfer all the files from my wife's camera. I have it set so that when she plugs in her camera it opens ViewNX2 and goes to Transfer. It places each days into a separate folder under "My Pictures" it names the folder with the date (You can chose the date format you want) Even when I was using it for my RAW files it never changed them to JPG. I was shooting both then and it transferred them both. Once you set the options 1 time it will automatically do that each time after till you change it. I have never had to check off what to transfer and it transfers them all. I also have mine set to delete the originals after transfer but that is up to you.

You can also tell ViewNX2 what program you want to open after the transfer it through. I have been teaching my wife to use Bridge and PhotoShop so I have ViewNX2 set to open Bridge when it is finished. Works good.

Check the options under transfer and you can set it any way you want.
