I found it with some direction! Kind of stinks though that all users accrue points but can't spend them. Maybe they shouldbe able to spend them but it actually does charge their bank for the purchase instead of no charge like it did me.

Yeah, the points are intended to just be a fun thing. It's an extra perk that contributors can use them for things. It didn't charge you? hrm

I think Marilynne has it, but when jdeg was explaining how the paid membership would work, one of the things was to colorize your user name. I think someone asked about it before the forum change, but I don't think it was readily available for everyone. However, I could be wrong....
@jdeg, can you please let us know whether this is available for non-contributors? Thanks!

I purchased three items, color name, shadow and glow, and my points remained the same unless I gained that many points within my next few posts.
