Not sure I get the shoe pic -- are the black bands intended?

Congrats! I just got my D7100 in the mail yesterday. I've taken a couple of test shots, but haven't really given it a workout yet. I can tell already, though, that this camera is a huge step up from my venerable D70 bodies.

Cheers guys. It is an incredible camera. I slightly under estimated the step up from my d3100. Seems im spending a lot of lunch hours at work reading the manual to help me along the way. All good practice though i must say.

I highly recommend you skip the owners manual and go to amazon and buy this book. It has a lot more information than you'll ever find in the manual, and it's laid out better. Much easier to understand.

It is also fun skipping the manual all together, and discover new things as you go along shooting.

That might also be fun, but I would also recommend getting a book that explains the camera better than the manual. I`ve got “mastering the d7100“ by Darrell Young and it helped alot.
