Okay. But there is a million ways to express that you don't like an image. Of course everybody's opinion counts.

Not under "controled" conditions, like you seem to had. If it would be, lets say, an event, it´s great, because it will output depending on your focal length. In that situation, you could have tried a manual mode, depending on how far were you in relation to them, maybe a quarter power, and tweak as you like - not talking about flash-exposure compensation, talking about your aperture, which is what controls the light from the flash and the flash output...

Also, sometimes it helps to block the direct light from the flash (there´s always some spill light). It gives you almost a "window light" look...

There are, which reminds me why I usually try to avoid making subjective statements in 2D worlds like this. Too easily misinterpreted. Someone once asked the poet Samuel Coleridge if he meant "X" by a certain passage in his famous Rime of the Ancient Mariner. He replied with a weary "Apparently"!

I don't understand why you wanna continue this. I don't care what someone else once said.

Flugelbinder, I am reading what you are writing but my head don't get it right now. What can I google to read more about this?

Back on track, come along Jonathan.

I like this, the only issue is the harsh shadow. I get this aswell and am thinking the only way around it is possibly standing them further away from the backdrop if possible. I will be playing with my flash these days off to see what I can and can't do and will be posting photos hopefully.

Gotta get that softbox done. I really think that would help a lot. I only got to the point where I figured out the flash combined with natural light.
Maybe I can dim the shadows in PP, will give it a try.

Good morning. Maybe this will help. He´s a lot better than me... ;) Flash Photography Basics

Thanks!

Also I read that a blocking card can be used at the front of the flash when bouncing to stop any forward spill light that may happen. I still have not tried my soft box but will this week off.

Have you made any yet? :)

A diy? No. I could, I got a black umbrella, was thinking I could fill it with aluminum foil?? But I dont have the trigger set so I wont be able to try it out (although it could look really funny just placing it on top of the camera ;)).
