Trip to Rishikesh

Thank you very much. I hope you get an idea of what this country is.

I like to take pictures.Till very recently I was involved in Highway Design and construction, so have not only traveled to remote places, but have taken tens of thousands of images of the state of the roads. So every time I travel, I take a lot of pictures whether a report is required or not. I also like to show people what India is like, away from serials and reality/food shows.

And now for Haridwar. This is an ancient city on the banks of Ganges as it enters the plains. This is one of the twelve locations of the "Kumbh Mela" which takes place every twelve years. All Sadhus and priests congregrate during the Kumbh Mela, and one of them confessed that for thousands of years this was the time when data, gossip and news was exchanged between priests coming from all parts of India (they come from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iran and far east).

The river is split into two here. Most of the water is diverted to the Ganga Canal for irrigation, and the excess flows down the river.
