The simplest option is to put the card into the computer and download it from there, That also does not use battery power from your camera unnecessarly

When I have bought my Sony XQD card the reader was in the box.

The one I got is the second version of Sony MRW E90 the previous version was MRW E80. It will take the XQD and SDXC ][ plus it read the older versions of SD cards. So far it works as advertised.

I'm having the same issue. The icon for the camera doesn't appear on my mac-mini. Have you found a solution?

Image Capture can be set so it is not the default import programme

Then you have to go to "Photo" and check the box that says "Do not upload photos from this source automatically" or something like that. The problem is Photo is seeing opportunity for import and just want to do it automatically.
