Topaz Photo AI2

Yes. When you load a file, it analyzes the image and decides what it needs and how much. When I use it with my macro photos it normally doesn't add any denoise because I'm shooting at 100 or 200 ISO. You can also manually turn on or off one of the three, and use sliders to adjust the amount applied. I used to use the individual programs as they did a better job. After a few updates I now use AI exclusively due to improvements. BTW, unless they have changed it, if you buy the three programs. AI is included.

Sometimes. If I really nail a shot, I can do better with Adobe raw processes. If after adobe I think Topaz might help I'll give it a shot. It rarely nails the look I want so I'm always adjusting. Bottom line it can sometimes take the "almost" shot and bring it to life. If it's a shot that I really want to make pop, I'll "develop" it in Davinci Resolve.

Thanks for the replies. Currently have have sharpen and denoise. I have Gigapixel, but. not purchased so it saves with watermark just to see if it was worth it for me. So if I purchase Gigapixel and have all 3 AI will be included or do you have to buy them all at once?

If you goto Topaz Lab's Main web site, in the bottom right of every page you'll see this secret little icon...

If you click on it, it'll open a support ticket... I'm pretty sure if you go to your account page on Topaz, it'll give you the option to upgrade to GigaPixel at a discount and add the Photo AI option, but in case it doesn't, just click that little blue thing and ask their support Reps... they'll answer realtively quickly.

If I buy AI for $199, will I also get the 3 individual apps? It's not a permanent buy as it states, but only includes a one-year update/upgrade.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for reaching out!

A nice perk for purchasing the Image Quality Bundle is that you will receive Topaz Photo AI for free.

Once purchased, you can claim Topaz Photo AI for free here.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Just downloaded the free trial of Gigapixel as I already have Denoise. I find Denoise is very fast and does a fantastic job, so much so that I never worry about my iso settings the way I used.
I am finding Gigapixel much slower, although it obviously depends on the size of the file.
So far I can't say I am blown away with the results of Gigapixel as I was with Denoise.
I suppose it will vary from photo to photo and person to person, but has anyone found Gigapixel amazing the same way Denoise performs?

Gigapixel is the least used of the three for me. Much of that is that I don't have a lot of cases where I need what it will do. I would recommend you try it on old photos.

Here's a picture of me, my dad and Bossy. I ran it through Gigapixel, which automatically upsized it 2x. I then resized it with LR hitting "auto" and "B&W" as it had some funky yellowing. It could use some retouching as it has a lot of spots and perhaps make a few other adjustments, but you can see the difference Gigapixel made.

And, just for comparison, here it is running it through Sharpen. I ran it through LR to remove color and "auto" adjustment to level the playing field. It compares well in some regards to Sharpen, but the faces are much better IMO. Well, mine and my dad's. Bossy's not so much.

And just for comparison, here is the original run through PS photo restoration. This looks better in some ways. It cleaned up a lot of spots, but there is more detail preserved in the two Topaz versions. I believe the best results would be had with Gigapixel and some work cleaning it up.

I can see what you mean as there is a big improvement using it on an old photo with Gigapixel.
I am just wondering when it might be useful for current photo's.

The first image has been put through gigapixel as you can see with the watermark. The second image has not had any sharpening. Both images are crops of the original. I actually prefer the image that has not gone through gigapixel as I think there is slightly more detail.

Topaz has 4 products. Denoise, Sharpen and GigaPixel...Those were their 3 core products, each addressing separate issues. Each of those 3 products started to add cross-over features... sharpening and denoise... and then AI was added to Giga... Giga's primary function was adding/upscaling... suitable for iphone jpegs and RAW files that were/are heavily cropped... Then they added "Photo AI"... which combines the 3 core products into a single product. Development on the 3 core products has basically stopped with all resources now being devoted to Photo AI. As AI models have improved, those improved models have been updated/added to Photo AI... This short post is not intended to describe the changes that have occurred in AI in the past year... suffice it to say, they're extensive, which has caused several changes in direction... If you have bought the 3 Topaz core products (their imaging bundle) then you get Photo AI for free, at this point. Photo AI is updated every Thursday evening. Photo AI is where Topaz is headed... I am on their beta team, and there are significant AI improvements and new features already in beta... The 3 core products are no longer being worked on, and will eventually go away as the 2 major OS makers (MS and Apple) lock them out... Photo AI is a work-in-process... but is the direction Topaz is headed...
