nice shots Tom, hopefully i will arrange another shoot with you for the coming weekend if you are free

As of right now I am not obligated to anything. That would be great! We still have Santa Rosa Plateau and March AF Base to check out. Or if you have any other ideas, that's cool too!

Very creative, how did you do that?

I actually "borrowed" the idea from something I saw.

I used cocktail ice cubes. I discovered that if you hollow out the top of the ice cube a bit, it holds the flammable product of your choice better. I used hand sanitizer. The alcohol content is enough to make it flame up, and it's a clear gel so it sticks better, but it has a weak flame. I'll have to try something else at another time. I tried Sterno, but since it is pink it didn't look natural, and it leaves behind a burnt residue.

Day 34...

My son's first day of hard contact... I need to learn how to get the nice Bokeh background during these sport shots... Any suggestions?

Gotta love youth sports. I think in some respects, it's the only place sport still exist.

Does young master Grove close his eyes when you snap his portrait with a flash?

Create a shallower depth of field by:

1. Using a larger aperture

2. Moving closer to the subject (magnify with your feet)

3. Using a longer focal length (magnify with your lens)

Thank you for the advice Eyellight...I'll try it with my 55-200mm tonight if I get the chance. I'm pretty sure he closes his eyes on impact... That last shot with the flash his eyes are open... a little anyway. :p

Thanks for the information on the magic that you created.
