I just bought my D90 and already loving it...and looking forward to hopefully getting some shots in the snow this weekend.

I bought mine from Ebay, body and 18-105 for £650 - Bargain :)

The D90 is a great camera, you could also look for a D200 (as Jack had said) I have one and it is a great camera.
If you have the money, I would look at the D7000, from what I have heard it is second to none in performance.

Hi Carolyne..
Congrats on a nice camera! I too use a D90 for 99% of what I shoot. They're a good sound step into the world of Nikon, and mine has proved it's toughness out in the field.

Feel free to have a noce at my Flickr for my D90 shots (listed in my sig.)

I did a lot of research based on my budget and the D90 always came on top (although the reviews always say that the Canon EOS DSLR's are better for landscapes - Bah Humbug!). I love my D90 and the results it gives me. However, in the wisdom of Ken Rockwell, the cheaper D5000 will do most of the same things at a D90 and as some of the other members would agree on is that the lens is what makes or breaks a good photo.

The D5000 also has a 2.7 inch screen while the D90 has a 3 inch screen. That alone is worth some extra $$ to me. I started with a D60, which had a 2.5 inch screen, and went to a D90, which has a 3 inch screen - even though I don't look at the screen all the time, and the image displayed on the screen is not quite what comes out of the camera, I find the 3 inch screen to be quite nice.

I would place the photographer before the lens or the camera - but would agree, lens is more important than camera. Ken Rockwell is hit or miss, sometimes he reviews stuff he has never seen or touched. I'd trust the reviews of my fellow Nikonites over his!
