It's kinda bad when you have to add color to make a brown ale. :) Sorry. :) Colour. So maybe we've helped y'all discover an imposter.:D

The European Food Safety Authority has twice ruled that the caramel-colouring ingredient is safe, and the US food and Drug Administration agrees, but US consumer groups have applied to pressure and forced a change.

Maybe "US consumer groups" need to stop worrying about everything and instead relax with an unadulterated Newcastle Brown Ale.

If you think this is bad, try living with those people all of the time. Why they have to change everything for everyone else, I don't know. My mantra is if you don't like it, don't do it. Live the way you want to, and let me live the way I want to. At least its not so bad locally where I live.

A lot of these people just need a Newcastle enema. And a LARGE ONE at that!

There is just so much beer and so little time to drink it to worry about silly stuff like that. Pass me the opener. Such controversies drive me to drink.

I apologize for the few dozen people over here that scream loud enough to make these changes happen. I drank New Castle brown for a long time, but I now home brew some nice brown ales that I prefer. On the other hand, Eyelight does have a good point, you should not need to color a brown ale.

"US consumer groups" = California

There is a reason we call it the Granola state. Land of Fruits, Flakes and Nuts.

To be honest it's hardly the end of the world blooming aweful stuff. There are hundreds of far better beers out there. Can't beet a good hobgoblin. But of course it's not as bad as Budweiser lol

Drop all the coloring and call it tan! I think the Cadbury dilemma is what happens when you sell rights. I'd rather have the English version with more chocolate in it!

Well, here is one Yank who has been drinking Newcastle for a long time with no complaints. It's one of my favorites. I say, don't *&$# with the recipe! :)

On the news a company is doing chocolate parcels in the UK and selling them in the USA.
