Hello all,

I just bought the Sigma DG 150-500mm 1:5-6.3 APO HSM and would like to know your thought on taking shots on Birds flying. Is it a good lens to start with ?

Does any one have some sample shots with this lens?

Thanks for your help

Follow the link to my Flickr page found in my signature. Every bird in flight is with that lens. I dare say, just about every bird on there is with that lens. If you need some examples...

OMG.. :)Awesome:). I am so excited.

I am going to be using it with a D600, will it be ok, right ?
Also, on your pictures can I see the EXIF info ?

This coming Saturday I have a Hawk Photoshoot so need to practice in a lake close to town where there are lots of Cormorants birds flying

Just a couple things to be aware of with the lens. It gets soft wide open and slightly at full 500mm extension. I tend to use it in Aperture priority mode at f8 or f9 and make sure that my ISO allows me to shoot fast enough to capture them in flight (1/800sec or faster). It works great on the D600 because the high ISO performance is spectacular. On the D800 I'll set it to DX mode if only to save on file sizes, but I'll shoot FX on the D600.
