I got a Vello Freewave Fusion remote flash trigger this week. Works great. The thing I didn't realize when I bought it is that it can also be used as remote shutter release, which is pretty cool if you don't need to use the two things at the same time. So, why is this a problem? Had I known I would have just bought this and not the plain old Freewave Remote Shutter Release a few months ago. In fact, I liked the shutter release so much that I bought two so I can trigger multiple cameras at the same time. Now I essentially have 3 RF camera triggers. Could have saved myself some money by just getting the flash triggers. At least now I only have to carry the flash stuff around with me in the bag and I can leave the remote trigger in the gear box until I need it.

Does it provide a two stage trigger to allow autofocus and metering before firing. I can fire my camera with a pocket wizard, but only certain models provide a two stage trigger.

The thing is the flash triggers came highly recommended, so I never would have read the reviews, and I certainly wouldn't have gone there when I was simply looking for an RF trigger (which I only bought because the D800 doesn't use the same IR remote as the D7000 & D600). The only way I would have caught it is if someone had posted in the RF trigger that you should look at the flash trigger, and even then I probably would have opted to save the $40 since I didn't think I needed the flash trigger at the time.

In all seriousness I love these sort of threads. Having just got into digital I am learning from you guys what are the best accessories to buy. Usually I would go out and buy everything and anything a salesman tells me. Now when I do go in I will be armed with information.

Actually I probably won't "go in" - as online is my preferred method.

Totally agree Lawrence. This forum has taught me SO much in just a couple of months. Looking forward to the day when I can start to bring some fresh knowledge to the newbies of the future.
