Re: Walkaround Thailand

The water is so clear, it's looks like those fish are jumping out of the water. Great shots! You've done a lot of traveling.

Re: Walkaround Thailand

Ban Rak Thai (literally "the Thai-loving village"), also known as Mae Aw in many guide books and some maps, is a village near Mae Hong Son. It was settled by former Kuo Min Tang (Nationalist) fighters from Yunnan Province, China, after the Communist takeover of China. The population is about 800, mainly Chinese-born or Thai-born Chinese. Many signs are in Chinese, and much of the population speaks a heavily accented version of Mandarin Chinese. If you speak Chinese, try it out, especially on some of the elderly people. They will be happy to speak with you, and can share some rather interesting stories of their lives pre- and post- exile, as well as about the drug trade that used to dominate the economy here.

Pang Oung, Mae Hong Son

Pang Oung is a pretty and serene lake in a valley glittering with sunlight surrounded by mountain ranges. The area has an incredibly soothing atmosphere and draws comparison to Switzerland and New Zealand. Many still doubt that this natural beauty and serenity can be experienced in Thailand.
Pang Oung, also called the Second Pang Tong Royal Project, is situated about forty-four kilometers from Mueng District. Inside the project is Ruam Thai village where delicious and aromatic coffee amidst exquisite flower gardens is offered.

Pang Oung can be visited all year though winter is very highly recommended for its unique beauty.

Re: Walkaround Thailand

As the valleys were filled with water, the once denuded shores were replanted and now provide very serene groves for couples with sun-rays shining providing a soft, golden light. In the evenings, the water acts like a mirror, reflecting the star-studded sky above.

Thank you for sharing these photos. It is a great education and a pleasure to see lands I'll probably never get to visit.

Re: Walkaround Thailand

During the 90 days of the events, the park will be decorated with a variety of winter plants and flowers including tulips, lilies, carnations, begonias, petunias, blue Hawaii, dahlias, geraniums, hydrangeas and more, all grown by the Royal Project Foundation. The park has already begun to undergo its transformation, having so far been decorated with roses and other winter flowers. Event activities will include special exhibitions about the royal duties of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen and also His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Thailand, various flower exhibitions, easy photography and also a live concert called “Music in the Garden” by popular Thai artists, as well as hill tribe and local performances, shows from educational institutes, and special events on New Year’s Day, Valentine’s Day and China New Year’s Day.

Re: Walkaround Thailand

Today's Walk-around Thailand is not that exiting for you but for my daughter it was an exiting day

The Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as the BTS Skytrain (Thai rot fai fa BTS), is an elevated rapid transit system in Bangkok, Thailand. It is operated by Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC) under a concession granted by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The system consists of 32 stations along two lines: the Sukhumvit Line running northwards and eastwards, terminating at Mo Chit and Bearing respectively, and the Silom Line which plies Silom and Sathon Roads, the Central Business District of Bangkok, terminating at the National Stadium and Wongwian Yai. The lines interchange at Siam Station and have a combined route distance of 55 km. The system is formally known as the Elevated Train in Commemoration of HM the King's 6th Cycle Birthday

Besides the BTS, Bangkok's metro system also comprises the underground railway line MRT and the elevated Suvarnabhumi Airport Link (SARL), serving several stations in the city before reaching the airport.

My daughter said that sh ewant take a ride on the BTS. It was her very first time. As a father who can't say no did what she wanted to do. We were very lucky on that time we decided to take the BTS.
It was a Public holiday called Wan Wisakha Bucha. (Buddhist observance commemorating the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha. Also observed as National Tree Day.)

When we arrived at the BTS Station no people around there at 08.00 o'clock morning. Lucky day.

I really enjoyed those. Similar trains in the US look like they were salvaged from Berlin after WWII.

Very useful bit of knowledge about BANANA

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!! This is interesting.
After reading this, you’ll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes.
