Yes Don. I think the only people that protest over controlled culling are international visitors. 23 million people in Australia, over 35 million kangaroo's. It's mainly the competition between 'roos and cattle/sheep for grazing rights. Being such a dry country we need a large surface area to feed one animal. It's a double edged sword though, because they are still considered a national icon and are featured on our coat of arms. Check out the livery on any Qantas plane.
I'm not fussed on the texture but you can find 'roo meat in most supermarkets here.
