My father and his parents were survivors of the holocaust, as well as the atrocities of Josef Stalin, and they spent 2 years in forced labor at a dynamite factory very near to where the Leica factory was in Wetzlar before being freed by the Allies. For as much as I've learned about this period of human history I never knew of this story, nor did my brother, who is far more the photography historian.

My grandparents on my mothers side were both survivors. They have a few video's at the Holocaust museum by our house here. More my grandma, my grandpa didn't like talking about it as much, as he was in Auschwitz. I've been to the museum, and my parents just recently went on a little Europe trip, stopped at Germany, and went to the camps there. One day I will make it out there when I can afford it, but they said it was amazing.
