The Display on the screeen......

Hi does anyone know how I can change the length of time that the info is displayed on the screen? Because I am learning how to use the camera, when I am playing with is, I might me looking and trying to fine a setting an the screen go black. It only stays on for a bout 5 sec if I am just looking at it and not scrolling thro any of the menu or settings. Would like it to last a bit longer while I am learning and trying to find things. Hope this makes sense! Thanks! :)

Hope this helps, turn camera on and press the menu key,that will bring up the custom setting menu. Scroll down to C2 Auto Off Timers there you will find the timers for how long the display is on.
The longer the display is on the shorter the battery will last, so return to the 5 sec after you get the hang off things. I to had to increase the time a first myself. A step by step can be found on page 160 of the Nikon D5100 manual.
