This is the first time that I have posted a photo for critique. What I like about this candid B&W shot is that I was in a busy pub (Bar) in York - England and this young man was sat opposite me waiting for his food.

I like how the shot came out, a young man deeply thinking with the darkness/light just right.

We were also waiting for food and as I saw this gentleman I just grabbed my camera and took the shot with little or no time for composure for I did not want the man to move or come over and lambast me for taking his photograph without his permission.

Please be honest, I am just an amateur regular Joe.

I like the shot; I think it's a good captured moment sort of shot.

I also think it would generate significantly more impact with a proper crop; but your profile says no editing, so I'll leave it at that.

I agree with the crop advice. He is centered now and generally that is not the ideal placement. Crop the left side of the photo leaving only 2 or 3 of the boards. Leaving his back to the edge of the frame and keeping the interesting door with the "Private" sign on it.

My first thoughts are exactly what has already been stated. A little bit of cropping off of the left side of the shot as others said. It is a nice candid shot.

To change the editing option:

Click on "Settings" located at the top right side of the page (Next to LogOut Option)
Then Click on "General Settings" located under My Settings > My Account
No Find the Option Photo Editing and check Yes or No
Save it and you're good.

Well in that case, here are my suggestions. I've cropped it 5:7, taking quite a bit off the left edge and a little off the right and top edges. There was a minor distracting element (it looked like a hinge to me) on the left edge, close to the subjects head that I removed. There was also some very subtle edge flicker at the top that was removed.
