I have tried it but not extensively as I find no need for the wireless function, I have the wireless adaptor but hardly use it.

I think I will give the one I linked in the OP a go.
If I get some spare time on the weekend I will check out the free trial.

Don't think camerarc will work on an iPad. It runs on Windows or on a Mac that is running bootcamp or a Virtual PC. The iPad doesn't support bootcamp or virtual PC.

The only one I am aware of that works with an iPad is this.

I would have been happy to pay the $20 for camerarc if it did what I want to do, but it's a bit inconvenient if I can only use it on my Mac.
Not to worry, I will just keep on doing it the way I have been doing it.

WMU is worth what you pay for it. It's not the greatest tool, but it does work (usually) when in a pinch.

You do need wireless, but then you wanted that anyway, right? (As a wifi engineer, I have to assume that :) )

Once you have wireless and WMU, you can upgrade to qdslrdashboard and give that a try. Nice step forward.

If that doesn't satisfy the craving, the Camranger is a good fit, but you can also build that solution yourself for much less. There's a thread here on what hardware to get and how to do it.
